OK so Im partial,... and I admit it.. I think this is the cutest little Red Ridding Hood,
ever,.. yeah I know... but still! A while back I mad this cape for a "re purposed"
garment challenge. Happily for me my little darling decided to be this character for the
Holiday.

It started our as a really nice shift dress made of a really supper soft cashmere,.. the
likes of which could have been worn by a Miss. Joan Holliway,(MadMen),... But alas..
it called out to me that it needed to have the Red Ridding Hood set free... and here it is.

I stitched a little heart at the back of the neck just for fun. Whats also fun about
this , is that it can also be worn as a caplette by her mom who I think has plans for it,.
It goes great with her flaming flowing red hair.. a picture to follow soon. I lined with
another piece of cashmere and it is totally revers able... such fun!

First of all, I would like to thank all of you who visited my little part of Ms. Vanessas' Halloween event. This was so much fun. I am simply awestruck by the overwhelming amount of talent and artistic skill out there. Simply beautiful! I haven't even made it all the way down the list, but I am going to visit every single one. Its like Christmas , opening up one sparkly box after the other waiting to behold the treats within.

Then thank you for the wonder full comments ( they are very encouraging), and the people who joined as followers. New friends all. And though Ive done it before, I give a shout out to the all too fabulous Ms. Vanessa for her wicked sence of over the top fancifulness and playful spirit. Thanks for inviting me to join in.

Now!,... I have picked the name of Ms. Christine Edwards of 'A Work In Progress'. Please go and visit her blog, its really very beautiful! I put all the names together on little pieces of paper and threw them into a box and had my partner make a pick. Couldn't figure a better way. Along with a teeny tiny box containing a fairy sized deck of tarot cards, I've added a small container of silver glitter... What, you say silver glitter? No no my friends!! This is a very special kind of glitter, made of REAL Silver!.

How special is that! Its something Ive just come across in my never ending search to find the odd and special ingredient to add to my artsy craft. Hope you enjoy Ms. Christine, in good health.

The Dirt Bike Cake

Jellybean boulders, candy semiprecious stones, buble gum gravel, chopped walnut dirt.

The Dirt Bike is from fondant. .. painted with food clour.

The cake is a layer of, yellow butter topped with vanilla whipped creme custard, followed by a layer of chocolate, topped with chcoclate mousse, finished with another layer of yellow butter cake... Its enrobed in a coating of vanilla butter creme crumb coat.

Then I went to town and had some fun with the deccoration! I love playing with food when there are children involved. This one is a special request from Malaki for his fifth birthday.

This year he is simply in love with anything Dirt Bike oriented, or Transformers. Having Grandchildren is more fun than anything!!

Ive been doing the finishing work on a line of bags and pocket books and even evening bags fashioned from up cycled blue jeans and thrifted fabric. The buttons and embelishments are also entirly made from denim scraps, and I will be making some broaches out of the denim flowers as they are my new favorite thing. I love when I ge a tinge of excitement over a new design...

New Baby's Comming!!!

Ive been busy ,busy ,busy with the garden (ish), finishing up my new line of bags, and getting things ready for he new baby. This weekend is the baby shower. The theme is "Mina's LAST Baby Shower".

Well , OK, this is baby #3 and for now I agree with them. They already know that its going to be a boy! Yeah for them.! For me I didn't want to know until the last moment, ... I don't like peeking until the package on Christmas Eve either!

I am excited to make it special without being fussy. ... I tend to be a bit fussy and I've been called on it but then again that's what I'm loved for,.. fussy and over the top pretty and good to eat!

With that I'm a bit disappointed with not having enough time to make my Fourth of July fancy pancy platters like I wanted. Unfortunately Ive turned the kitchen into my work room for lack of space and Ive dominated every counter top and available table space until I get this selection done... so I only made four things this time. Thanks Tom for being my prep chef, couldn't have done it without you.(kisses)

I made a red white and blue potato salad, devilled eggs , fresh fruit tarts, and a tray of cookies . They came out sorta OK, but not what I wanted although every one loved everything,(happily)

Now for a Baby Shower Luncheon for 30 with about 20(ish) children. I'm not sure its standard to bring children to a baby shower, but what the heck.... so I will be making some goodie bags for the haflings too..... and its already Thursday... So it will be about 4 more days or so until I get around to finishing my beloved bags... Ill post a sample of my progress as soon as I can squeeze out some time.

I couldnt help it I has some of this fabric hanging around from the table tops for my short lived Cafe... I decided "why not..?" Why not just make a few of these bags and perhaps one or two for myself,?

I love the color explosion and the vintage patern just makes me downright happy. Ive posted a few on my Etsy shop. Stop by and take a peek.

Ive sold only one so far through that site, and I always add a litte something extra when I make a sale anywhere,.. With this one I add a little change purse of the same fabric . Its lined and has a heavy duty zipper... Now on to the next project.

Last week I took some time out to visit the open studio at ArtSpace located in the former Saltz Tannery on River street.I didnt think it would be a place I could ever consider calling home, as Im the type who NEEDS to have a garden, and it appeared that there was no garden space. Not at all. Some of the spaces do have quite substanctial porch space whereinone could if needed put up the odd tomatoe and the likesOther than that itwas more pleasent than Id first expected.

I'm gathering a set of tea service for tea time with my granddaughter. I couldn't

quite find a set i liked so I decided to put on together piece by piece.... Then. First I

found the sweet tea pot with the rabbit handle.... and down the street ,,.. there was

the little rabbit creamer! I couldn't resist.

I didn't have it as a goal to do a bunny theme the opportunity just presented itself. I'm

sure it will morph into something else before I'm finished!

The little Birthday Cake

Chocolate vanilla chocolate layers with a filling of White chocolate custard
and apricot preserves. The frosting is white chocolate. Its 90something
degrees and my beautiful cake is melting!!!!!

Happily for me it was warmly received. The birthday Girl loved the cherry
blossoms, and the silvery dragees and the pinkness of it all. Love making
the cakes. I'm hoping the next one comes out even better,

This Little Light of Mine.....

First I began with a little flicker light from the dollar store... kind of
a fake candle thing. I love the dollar store. Six of these for a buck!! too cool!

And I made a tiny little lantern from wire and crepe paper to hang

in my crystal tree. Ive made two so far, but I have to modify the other one

and remove the covering from the little bulb so that it looks brighter than it

does here in the dark... back to the drawing board...

It looks OK when the lights are on, but still... I think we need some

glitter therapy here.. lets see.

Here it is after a glitter application. There's some glow in the dark glitter

cant wait to see the difference ,... but still looks OK

this is what it looks like without glitter... I kind of like this one too.

Such a cutie....!! I just adore her!!!

I had my beautiful grandchildren over and we made a day of news paper flowers. Free art supplies! kinda,...

We painted the both sides of the news paper with white Gesso and left it to dry in between watching some cartoons. We practiced using the scissors for the first time and I'm sorry I could not take a pic of it and also assist... but it was sweet.

So,.. we cut and pasted the petals to the stems also made from newspaper, and then added a crepe paper rosettes and the glitter,...gotta have the glitter... voila! news paper flowers for mothers day!...

This is the wedding pic of my parents. Its one of a few pictures that I own of my mother for some really dark reasons. That aside... My mother was the most beautiful person that I know. Still after all of this time . Everything that is good and kind and in any way worth anything about the quality of my life is because of having had the blessing and the sweet good luck of having her as my mom..
My love of art and crafts and of music... my pleasure in the garden.. the joy of cooking and of doing for others, unconditional love, how to pray, how to forgive, how to be ,...just be ,......I learned from her.
She taught me so many things that I am still uncovering everyday. We shared so much in common and were close in such a good way. I am so very happy to have even known her and been birthed and raised and prayed over and loved by her.
I could go on and on... one day (maybe) i will recover from my breaking heart at not having her here on this plane....

Yummy PoP Corn, The line was too long tfor the pink Popcorn so I settled. .......I found the sweetest tiny Love Apples topped with chocolate and english toffee and chopped almonds,.. The biggest Marshmellows Ive ever seen with white chocolate and chocolate Grahm crackers and sprinkles..... and I cant beleiveit but I even found some colorful cotton candy,.....

I dont remember where I found this site, but , what a find. Heres the scoop. You design a patern, then you upload it onto a profile that you create. You get a chance to make further configurations as to the placement. Then you have them print out a piece of fabric

How cool is that???? You get to design your very own fabric. You then get to order a much as you like. Make as many different designs as you like. You do have to pay for the fabric that you order... but thats it. The rest is up to you and your imagination!!!

Ive been having a blast! Check out some of my designs... I call it cut and paste.

A while back on one of the sunniest of days, I took notice of some of the hidden beauty in so many places. That great colour of the almost ripe olive, the last of the persimons on the tree, the Mexican Lavender, and the last of the roses. Just before I got to the door, I noticed a sparkly blue piece of glass that looked like a glistening heart in the sunlight.

I was embeded in the gravel and the sunlight hit it just right. It looked so beautiful....I am inspired to make it into something. dont quite know what yet... I guess you had to have been there.......

Such a cute event. My first time of being grandma in the audience. Its hard to believe that only the other day I was watching her dad. This performance was some Christmas songs and a prayer of thanks , also a happy birthday baby Jesus. So sweet, I'm glad that I got to see.

Last year there was big drama,... this huge guy with bright red clothes and fuzzy beard . Yup it was big big drama, and most definably NOT going to happen. Much too scary. There was a chance, well a kind of small chance , well ok a glimmer of hope, that maybe, just maybe she was going to venture into the unknown. And after deep discussion,... not a snowballs chance,..... Perhaps next year.

This is the first proof of the drawing blelow before I settled on the layout.

This year I decided to do a card and use that project for my creative every day idea. I took more than one day and I was side tracted many other on going projects of the season. This year I actually managed to get them out in the mail by Christmas and not just continue on to becomming more of a holiday craft project. It was a bit hurried but Im happy with the results.
